50% growth in demand for AC in the U.S. by 2030?

This projection is one of the reasons behind Bosh’s taking over the global HVAC solutions business for residential and light commercial buildings (Including the York and Coleman brands) and 100% of the Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning joint venture, including Hitachi’s 40 % stake, from Johnson Controls. According to Jan Brockmann, president of the Bosch Home Comfort Group, “Now is the right time for a bold step toward a global presence. Demand for air-conditioning solutions is growing especially fast.”  In the U.S., for example, Bosch expects to see more than 50 percent growth by the end of the decade, and in Europe as well, strong growth of approximately 30 percent is forecast up to 2030. Read the entire story HERE.

Are we ready?
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook Job Outlook, 2022 – 32, “About 37,700 openings for heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics and installers are projected each year, on average, over the decade (My math: 37,700 X 7 = 263,900 openings 2025 – 2032). Many of those openings are expected to result from the need to replace workers who transfer to different occupations or exit the labor force, such as to retire.”

How do we prepare?
The ACprosite.com website will be featuring posts in the “Features” section on topics ranging from increasing student enrollment in technical schools, Florida’s legislative efforts in supporting education, ideas on business owners shifting responsibilities or creating new positions to enhance efficiency and profitability and where to find new workers.

Look for updates announced in the twice-monthly eLetter.
