The Manasota Air Conditioning Contractors Association (MACCA) held its Annual Inspector Panel on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at the Holiday Inn Sarasota Airport. There was a great turnout and attendees learned about new code changes in the HVAC industry and had the opportunity to ask questions to the panel of inspectors. Participating on the panel were the following: Shawn Baxter, Senior Mechanical Inspector, Manatee County; Hank Fulmer, Manager III-Inspections/Licensing/Enforcement, Sarasota County; John Mushinski, Commercial Plans Examiner, City of Sarasota; Andy Mihaly, Building Inspector, City of Sarasota; Rick Hopkins, Deputy Building Official/Inspector, City of Venice; Steven Beckman, Building Official/Director, City of Venice; Patti Fige, Interim Building Official/Plans Examiner, Town of Longboat Key; and Michelle Williamson, Building Inspector, Town of Longboat.
A few of the topics discussed were breaker problems, material issues, fitting new equipment into old spaces, duct work, and properly installing equipment for future access. Attendees were also educated on the importance of checking manufacturers specs and energy calcs, the difference between building and zoning codes, and the proper steps to make sure your inspection goes smoothly. Overall, the evening was both informative and educational and attendees left with some great takeaways.
