Baker Distributing and Florida Cooling Supply combined business with pleasure for their dealers in October, hosting ICP SEER2 (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio 2) update meetings at golf driving ranges in Tampa, Orlando and Jacksonville.
ICP Florida Regional Business Manager TK Shelton opened the Tampa and Orlando business sessions and ICP Southeast Regional Business Manager Michael Jacobsen opened in Jacksonville.
Changes in Department of Energy HVAC system M1 testing procedures going into effect January 1, 2023 will increase systems’ external static pressure by a factor of 5 (0.5 inches of water), better representing external conditions seen in the field and resulting in lower SEER2 equipment ratings. The regulations are being implemented regionally and for the Southeast, air conditioning (straight-cool) systems that do not meet the SEER2 requirements cannot be installed after January 1, 2023. Residential straight-cool systems below 45,000 BTU must be rated at 14.3 SEER2 (15.0 SEER) and systems 45,000 BTU and above must be rated at 13.8 SEER2 (14.5 SEER). The new heat pump requirements are 14.3 SEER2 (15.0 SEER) and 7.5 HSPF2 (8.8 HSPF). However, existing 14.0 SEER heat pumps built before January 1, 2023 may still be sold and installed after January 1, 2023.
A positive outcome of the new regulations for ICP is a consolidation of equipment unit offerings, providing greater flexibility in matchups and reducing the number of different SKUs (stock keeping units) that need to be inventoried.
The contractors enjoyed dinner and refreshments prior to heading out to tees for networking and a friendly competition seeing who could knock the golf ball farthest with greatest accuracy.
