Johnstone Supply hosted a series of Bosch Unitary Ducted IDS (Inverter Ducted Split) training classes across several Florida locations during September, including a session at the East Tampa branch. Attendees enjoyed a complimentary breakfast before diving into the hands-on learning experience led by Bosch factory trainer Chris Morrissey.
The training began with a review of installation fundamentals, including understanding low and high voltage, refrigerant charging techniques, and ensuring adequate airflow for optimal system performance.

The product-specific portion of the course focused on Bosch’s inverter-driven ducted split heat pump systems, highlighting installation best practices, troubleshooting and maintenance strategies and efficiency and performance optimization.
During his presentation, Chris emphasized Bosch’s strong dehumidification capabilities, noting that the feature should not be oversold since it only functions when the equipment is operating. On the topic of troubleshooting, he advised technicians to check the basics before calling technical support, adding,

“The most frequent call we get is not getting power between Y and C at the outdoor unit, often before anyone has even looked at the basics.”
Representatives from the McAllister Group, Bosch’s manufacturer’s agent for Florida, joined Chris for a Q&A session and provided tours of the new Bosch training trailer, addressing technician questions and real-world applications.
