The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Contractors Association (RACCA), Tampa Bay, hosted a apprenticeship program introduction and tool night social at the Pinellas Technical College (PTC) Clearwater Campus on April 4, 2023.

The event offered a behind the scenes look at RACCA’s Apprenticeship Program, where students hone their skills to be the next generation of Tampa Bay HVAC/R experts. Apprentice sponsors, companies not currently participating in the program, RACCA members and non-members were invited to attend. Held on an evening when classes were in session, students and instructors interacted with the visitors during breaks.
Several manufacturer’s representative agencies were on hand providing hands-on training for the students and conducting demonstrations for the company owners in attendance: Dan Moody and David Waugh of Target Sales, Tim Roberts of Cain Sales, Ryan Reynolds of EV Dunbar, John Galloway and Tom Gibbons of PED Associates and Nick MacFee of J.Nichols and Associates.

RACCA Apprenticeship Administrator Keane Bismarck and PTC RACCA Apprenticeship Coordinator Jim McCann were on hand, conducting tours of the classrooms and labs and answering questions about the program. Companies do not have to be RACCA members to sponsor students but membership does qualify companies for reduced tuition and many other benefits.
The apprenticeship program will begin accepting applications for the 2023/2024 training year after July 1st, 2023. Classes will begin Tuesday evening, September 5th.
