The Tallahassee Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Contractors Association (TRACCA) recognized the first 3rd year graduates of their Apprenticeship Program on April 20, 2023, at the Lively Technical College in Tallahassee.
Commissioner Brian Welch (Leon County District 4) congratulated the graduates and 1st and 2nd year advancers, emphasizing the benefits they gain by learning a skilled trade and how promising the future is for those who graduate from the program. Brian also spoke about the high demand for skilled workers in Florida and Tallahassee’s current rapid growth in particular.
“Thank you to Lively Technical College for their continued support of the program and Darien Trim for being an amazing instructor,” stated TRACCA Apprenticeship Coordinator and Executive Director Carre Welsh. “As always, special thanks to our sponsors, because without you we would not be able to support our contractors and technicians as we do; Brown’s Refrigeration, Gunn Heating & Air Conditioning, Johnstone Supply, Southern Pipe & Supply, Paula Huband with FRACCA and Tropic Supply.”
The TRACCA HARV Mechanic program is a registered full 3-year indentured apprentice program, Florida State Certified through the Florida Bureau of Apprenticeship. This program curriculum was handpicked by the TRACCA Apprenticeship Committee for the local contractors to train their employees. The classes ran for approximately 34-38 weeks with testing for EPA, First Aid and CPR, HVAC Excellence and NATE.
Graduates who have completed the third program year received a final certificate of completion from the State of Florida Department of Education Bureau of Apprenticeship, and they are also now certified by the Tallahassee Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Contractors Association.
