Airthings Introduces Newest Air Quality Monitor, HBS Wave Mini and Healthy Building Solution at AHR 2020

Airthings, specialists in indoor air quality and producers of one of TIME Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2019, today announces the debut of their Healthy Building Solution in tandem with its newest smart air quality monitor, HBS Wave Mini. By pairing the diminutive hardware with a unique and customizable software platform to give businesses insights into previously invisible elements that may be costing them money, Airthings is uniquely qualified to lead the charge in the burgeoning healthy building movement. AHR attendees will be able to experience the full suite of Airthings offerings from February 3-5, 2020 at Booth #9021 (West Hall) in the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.

Airthings HBS Wave MiniThe HBS Wave Mini is a small product with the ability to make a big impact and is perfect for HVAC professionals and commercial spaces. As an extension of the Airthings Healthy Building Solution’s existing product line of smart radon detectors and air quality monitors, including the award-winning HBS Wave Plus, the HBS Wave Mini provides insights into three critical air components: total volatile organic compounds (TVOCs), temperature, and humidity. This allows employers and facilities managers to visualize any changes in air quality or comfort levels in in varying locations around the building. VOCs are common toxins and potentially harmful chemicals that are omnipresent in indoor environments, typically caused by human-made pollutants like aerosol sprays, paints, fumes, cleaning products and even humans themselves. With the average person spending 90% of their time indoors at a commercial space, gaining insight into air quality contaminants and being able to take action with simple steps like opening a window or turning on a fan can dramatically impact and improve the air we breathe and therefore our comfort, productivity and most importantly, our health.

“We have factual evidence that breathing better has a tangible impact on performance, productivity and ultimately costs employers less in sick leave and cognitive functions on the job. Many give little thought to the air they breathe each day as they enter into workplaces, hotels, shopping malls and other commercial spaces,” said Øyvind Birkenes, CEO of Airthings. “We have the ability to quantify indoor air quality in a range of commercial spaces coupled with a trove of data demonstrating the clear correlation of healthy air and employee performance. Every business wants to be profitable while providing a desirable workplace. The gimmick of adding bean bag chairs and ping pong tables is falling out of favor, we’re finding that employees want to not only feel safe in the workplace but also confident in the air quality they’re breathing.”

Viewing current and historical measurements in different parts of a building is easy within the Healthy Building Solutions platform, which Airthings continues to upgrade with new useful features every day. The most recent example of newly implemented capabilities is the Airthings API’s ability to now easily integrate with the Niagara framework by Tridium using a standard API driver. Using the API creates a multitude of possibilities for adding value to any existing building automation and control system. The Healthy Building Solution has wireless multi-sensors which can easily be mounted in any closed or open office environment. Given the flexibility of HBS, now with the Niagara Tridium, there are more opportunities than ever to optimize the way you’re monitoring the air that people are breathing in your building.

The launch of the Healthy Building Solution and HBS Wave Mini comes on the heels of significant recent success for Airthings’ rapidly increasing brand presence in both the commercial and consumer markets. Recently, the brand earned the coveted distinction of producing one of TIME Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2019. Airthings joined 99 other brands in an ultra-competitive search that included thousands of products that were scrutinized on their technological prowess, uniqueness in the market and contributions to humanity, signaling the considerable impact Airthings is having on quantifying something that so many take for granted.
