Overview
Throughout July, B&B Capitol Strategies continued advancing FRACCA’s legislative and regulatory priorities at both the state and federal levels. Efforts focused on refrigerant policy, federal advocacy, member engagement, political outreach, and preparations for the 2026 election cycle.
Association & Member Engagement
Participated in weekly IGAS coalition calls throughout the month to coordinate industry advocacy efforts and discuss state and federal issues impacting Florida’s HVAC industry.
Attended FRACCA’s monthly Board of Directors meeting and facilitated the third quarter virtual membership meeting to provide legislative and regulatory updates, discuss ongoing advocacy initiatives, and prepare members for upcoming political engagement opportunities.
Conducted an interview with OPPAGA regarding the industry’s transition to R-454B and the impacts of the accelerated phase-out of R-410A, helping educate consumers and raise awareness of challenges facing contractors.
Legislative & Political Outreach
Met with Rep. James Buchanan to discuss FRACCA’s federal priorities, including refrigerant transition issues, workforce development, and industry concerns.
Met with congressional candidate Joe Strada to discuss issues affecting Florida contractors and the importance of supporting policies that strengthen the skilled trades and construction industry.
Attended a political event supporting Representative Randy Maggard and presented FRACCA’s campaign contribution as part of the association’s ongoing political engagement efforts.
Federal Advocacy
Continued working with Congressman Greg Steube and Senator Rick Scott’s offices on federal legislation that would restore the original implementation timeline for the R-410A refrigerant transition. Discussions remain ongoing as FRACCA continues advocating for a more practical and achievable transition for contractors, distributors, and consumers.
Regulatory Affairs
Continued coordinating a meeting between FRACCA leadership and Department of Business and Professional Regulation Secretary Melanie Griffin to discuss workforce issues, contractor licensing, and regulatory priorities affecting the HVAC industry.
Political Action & Candidate Engagement
Continued organizing chapter-level candidate interview and endorsement meetings across Florida. These interviews will provide local chapters with an opportunity to meet candidates, discuss FRACCA’s legislative priorities, and make recommendations for political endorsements ahead of the 2026 General Election.
Looking Ahead
During August, our focus will remain on advancing federal refrigerant legislation, finalizing the meeting with Secretary Griffin, coordinating chapter candidate interviews and endorsements, and continuing to build relationships with legislative and congressional candidates ahead of the November election. We will also continue monitoring regulatory developments impacting Florida’s HVAC contractors and advocating for policies that support the industry and its workforce.
