Air Masters of Tampa Bay, a family-owned HVACR business that has been operating in Seminole Heights for over 40 years, unveiled the city’s newest public art piece during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 3, 2025.

Air Masters’ founder John DeYoung wanted to do something different to honor the community he’s so proud of so he commissioned acclaimed artist Austin “Slim” Gee to paint a mural on three sides of the company’s two-story structure. Gee has painted other murals in the area, but none as large as the Air Masters’ building.
“I thank Tampa Mayor Jane Castor for helping us dedicate this piece of art today,” John stated. It was amazing watching Slim Gee bring this spectacular work of art to life day by day over the past two months. Unfortunately for him, we never stopped and asked if we could help and that’s probably a good thing. This mural tells the story of Seminole Heights. There are so many iconic landmarks in it, the Sulphur Springs tower, Zoo Tampa with the different animals, the city’s skyline and what makes us ‘Champa Bay’, all our sports teams on the largest of the three sides making up the mural”.

“This is a great event,” Mayor Castor said after the ribbon cutting ceremony. “I’ve driven by here for years. I’ve lived in Seminole Heights for 35 years now, and so I drive this way on my way home every afternoon. I was able to see this building, just go from your average building that people didn’t notice into a literal work of art. This project is another example of how creativity and collaboration can breathe new life into historic neighborhoods.”
Residents are encouraged to view the mural, located at 4830 N Florida Avenue, Tampa, FL 33603.
