Nearly eighty Florida Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Contractors Association (FRACCA) members and guests enjoyed a 3-night cruise aboard the MSC Meraviglia March 2 through 5, 2023. The ship departed from Port Canaveral, FL with over 4,000 passengers on board for the overnight trip to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, the cruise line’s private island retreat.
Guests enjoyed the pristine beaches on the island and the amenities offered on the ship during the one day, one night stay. The FRACCA group networked and relaxed with business owners also earning CE credits for attending presentations by Jon Buehler of Gateway Business Advisors and Don Gillis, Technical Training Manager at Chemours.
Jon Buehler shared information on navigating the strategies to profit and exit, focusing on 5 specific initiatives that increase the values of companies: growth, profit, prune, get out of the way and finances. Some key takeaways were planning for growth on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis, and planning for profit (the #1 driver of value in a business) by using an electronic pricebook and reviewing pricing quarterly. Bundling services, offering tiered options, increasing efficiency by staging jobs and parts, implementing parts runners and reducing unbillable time also add values to companies.
Don Gillis covered Federal, state and local codes, some of the AIM Act, ASHRAE 34 refrigerant flammability testing, and best practices for safety and handling the new refrigerants. He also discussed pressure and temperature comparisons of the outgoing R410A and incoming R545B refrigerants.
