The Southwest Florida Air Conditioning Contractors Association (SWACCA) hosted a compelling panel discussion at its June Dinner Meeting, bringing together regional enforcement leaders to tackle one of the industry’s most pressing issues: unlicensed contractor activity.

The panel featured a distinguished lineup of officials who provided attendees with valuable insights, real-world case examples, and legislative updates that directly affect licensed contractors and the businesses that support them. The session highlighted the dangers of unlicensed work—not only to legitimate businesses but also to consumers and the reputation of the skilled trades.

Panelists included:

  • Christopher Farley, CAMS, CFE – Economic Crimes Unit | Corporal, Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office
  • Glenn Nixon – Code Enforcement Manager, City of Sanibel
  • Timothy Crotts – Assistant Division Director, Collier County Code Enforcement
  • Detective David Dietz, CFCI, CCI – Economic Crimes Unit, Fort Myers Police Department
  • Detective Heath Lewis – Lee County Sheriff’s Office
  • Jon Davidson – Investigation Specialist II, Florida DBPR Division of Regulation

SWACCA reminds the community that unlicensed activity can be reported anonymously. The association is able to submit reports directly to the proper authorities without attaching the business or individual’s name.
