Tropic Supply recently hosted specialized contractor training events, Heatcraft Refrigeration Equipment Installation and Troubleshooting, in Orlando and Jacksonville, Florida.
The half-day trainings ran from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a light breakfast served from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. The events drew HVAC and refrigeration contractors from across the regions who registered in advance to participate in this in-depth educational session.
Led by industry veteran Chris Thomas of Heatcraft, the trainings focused on real-world installation and troubleshooting practices designed to improve system performance, reliability, and serviceability. Attendees received hands-on guidance and technical insights covering:
- Wiring diagrams and electrical best practices
- Proper defrost timer setup and adjustment
- Field piping best practices for proper system capacity
- Long line set techniques to ensure proper oil return
- Condensate drain piping and drain heater selection
- Proper equipment placement and required clearances
- Identification and prevention of common installation mistakes
The classes were approved as a NATE Continuing Education course, providing attendees with four hours of NATE continuing education credits upon successful completion.
Chris Thomas brings more than 37 years of HVAC industry experience, with a strong background in supermarket and convenience store refrigeration service and installation start-up. His instruction emphasized long-term system performance, proper maintenance practices, and the importance of ongoing technician education in today’s evolving refrigeration landscape.
“Tropic Supply is committed to supporting contractors through high-quality training opportunities that help them stay competitive and up to date with the latest technology,” said a Tropic Supply representative. “These events reinforced our mission to provide not only products, but knowledge and expertise that add value in the field.”
