Tropic Supply teamed up with Uniweld to deliver a hands-on training series for Florida HVAC professionals titled “Master the Torch: Best Practices for Gas Flame Tools & Aluminum Coil Repair Training.” Held at Tropic Supply’s Central and South Florida locations in late 2026, the sessions focused on practical, jobsite-ready skills that help technicians work safer, faster, and more profitably.
With a strong emphasis on best practices, attendees received instruction and demonstrations on:
- Safety protocols and best practices for gas flame tools, including oxyacetylene, acetylene, and MAP/propane hand torches
- Proper techniques for working with and repairing aluminum coils to support quality, efficiency, and long-term reliability
- How best practices can save time, cut costs, reduce callbacks, and increase profits through improved workmanship and consistency
To keep the training interactive and ensure quality engagement, class sizes were limited to approximately 24–35 seats, depending on the store location.
Classes were led by Gil Ledoux or Sal Hamidi of PED Associates, both bringing deep product knowledge and field-relevant experience.

Gil Ledoux shared insights from a long career in the HVACR industry, with 35 years of experience and training work for organizations such as NATE, RSES, ACCA, and multiple regional technical schools. He has also dedicated more than 29 years to representing Uniweld, offering attendees a seasoned perspective on torch applications and best practices.
Sal Hamidi brought a well-rounded industry background, including six years working with leading manufacturers and three years focused specifically on Uniweld products. His experience as an independent sales representative, manufacturer’s sales representative, and national sales manager helped connect tool selection and technique to what technicians see in the field every day.
