Upcoming 9th Edition (2026) Florida Building Code Training Sessions

Thank you to the Florida Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Contractors Association (FRACCA), the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Contractors Association (RACCA) Tampa Bay and Florida lobbyist Edward Briggs of B&B Capitol Strategies for sharing the following information about upcoming Building Code training sessions being offered by the Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA). Thank you to the FHBA for helping contractors navigate the Codes:

Editor’s Note: references to the first of four sessions held October 29 have been deleted.

“The 9th Edition (2026) Florida Building Code takes effect December 31. The Florida Home Builders Association is offering three free two hour virtual training sessions on November 10, December 3, and December 15 covering changes to the residential code along with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing updates. Continuing education hours are available for eligible licensed professionals, and registration is required.

Here are the details. FHBA is running four two hour Zoom sessions on the 9th Edition of the Florida Building Code, which takes effect December 31.

Each session covers the same two one hour courses, so members only need to attend one. The first is The New Florida Residential Code: Changes Every Builder Should Know, and the second is Behind the Walls: Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Code Updates. Each session counts for 2 hours of General CE for CILB licensees (course numbers 0615489 and 0615485), and it is also approved for BCAIB and FBPE.

Tuesday, November 10, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Register for November 10
Thursday, December 3, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Register for December 3
Tuesday, December 15, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Register for December 15

All times are Eastern, and the full details are on FHBA’s page at fhba.com/building-code-update-webinars.”
