Walter Arnett, the first editor of the Florida HVAC Insider newspaper, celebrated his 96th birthday on August 30, 2024. Dozens of friends and family members from Georgia, Alabama and Florida partied with him at a luncheon thrown in his honor at the Fish ‘n Pig restaurant in Macon, GA.
In August of 1992 Walter and the Insider Newspaper Group published the first edition of the Florida HVAC Insider monthly newspaper, beginning a 30+ year run of serving the Florida HVAC industry. The February/March Edition of 2023 marked the end of a tremendously successful presence in the marketplace, with the paper mailing up to 88-page editions to over 7,500 monthly subscribers over the years.
I joined Walter in March of 2003, assuming the role of editor several years later when Walter entered semi-retirement and moved to Macon GA. Walter continued contributing his “From the Inside” monthly editorial until the paper ceased publication and transitioned to the ACprosite website in May 2023.
