EVERY Contractor concerned about worker’s compensation rates needs to READ THIS. Contributed by Edward Briggs, the Florida Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Contractors Association lobbyist in Tallahassee:
Good morning,
Some good news on costs. The Office of Insurance Regulation will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, October 27 at 10:00 a.m. on NCCI’s workers’ compensation rate filing.
NCCI is asking for an average 7.4 percent decrease in voluntary market rates for all new and renewal policies written in Florida, effective January 1, 2027. If approved, that’s a direct savings on payroll costs for builders and contractors.
You can join by webinar here or by phone at (850) 328-4354, code 492598897#. Anyone who wants to present expert testimony has to prefile it in writing with OIR by October 20.
Written public comments can be sent to ratehearings@floir.gov with the subject line “National Council on Compensation Insurance” until November 10 at 5:00 p.m.
Here’s the full notice: https://www.flrules.org/gateway/View_Notice.asp?id=31499021
If you’d like to weigh in with a comment supporting the decrease, let me know and I’m happy to help put something together.
Sincerely,
Edward Briggs
